“My two sons for several years wanted to learn the piano but living remotely on the ranch they thought it would never happen. We purchased an electric piano and online lessons have been a godsend. The approach for each boy has been different to accommodate their different abilities, learning styles and ages. They have advanced quicker than I thought possible!

If you are returning to the piano after learning as a child, you will probably have strong feelings about how you learned. Before you let these affect your decision, bear in mind that a range of research shows how different adult learning (andragogy) is from child learning (pedagogy).
“What a great instructor! All explanations have been clear and precise. My technique, fluency and theory have improved. Family and friends have commented on my improvement.”

Shirley is by far the best piano teacher I have ever had. As a child I had piano lessons, ceasing lessons in my teenage years – a decision I later would regret. At various times as an adult I recommenced piano lessons with other teachers but was never very satisfied with my progress. Thankfully I have now found Shirley and I have been having weekly lessons for the last six months. My love for the piano is back and my development in such a short period of time has exceeded my expectations. Shirley is an incredibly experienced teacher and has an amazing ability to simplify and explain things so they make sense. Shirley has made me feel comfortable and she also has a great sense for reading a student and knowing what techniques and methods will assist them to advance. Shirley is always challenging me and she is authentically delighted when I show improvement and achieve success. Her lessons are both engaging and rewarding, and there is always time for some light-hearted laughter. I would highly recommend Shirley, her teaching style is just brilliant.

“I’ve been getting composition lessons for a few months and found the lessons extremely valuable and informative. Been playing the violin for a long time but understanding structure with accompanying instruments extremely foreign. Learning about instrument ranges, difficulties players encounter on their instrument along with the tone qualities has been enlightening. Thanks.”
